So, you’ve got some flower you want to press?  Or is it hash?  Or Dry Sift Kief?  Don’t worry, with a wide range of micron sizes Rosin Tech has filter bags for all your extraction needs.  Choosing the right filter bag is actually quite simple and will help increase yields as well as quality.

Let’s start with the basics.  The lower the micron size (i.e. 25u,) the smaller the holes in the bag which will allow less plant material through. The higher the micron (i.e. 220u,) the larger the holes in the bag, which can allow more plant material through. Generally the larger size microns (90u – 220u) are used for flowers and the smaller size microns (25u – 90u) are used for dry sift/keif or bubble hash. Simple, right?

You’ve got the basics, now let’s talk about preference, this is going to be a big factor in choosing the right filter bag for your needs.  The main question you have to ask yourself is, “how much plant material do I want to allow in my extract?”  you may want to consider the application you’re using the extract for, (rosin for sale, rosin to smoke, edibles, moonrocks etc.) and also how much material and what kind of material you are processing.

If you are looking to maximize your yields and are not as concerned with allowing small amounts of plant material in your rosin, go with a higher micron size.  If you are looking for the purest form of extract and value quality over quantity, go with a lower micron size.  If you’re looking for a balance of both, choose a micron screen that falls somewhere in the middle.

Now that you’re familiar with micron sizes and have thought about your preference, here are our Filter Bag recommendations for Flower, Hash and Dry Sift Keif.

Flower: 90u, 120u, 160u, 190u, 220u

Dry Sift: 25u, 45u, 73u, 90u

Bubble Hash: 25u, 45u

Happy Pressing!
